The Consultation

Prior to your session, we’ll set up a time to chat so I can get to know you and your family better – your likes & dislikes, color & style preferences, your toddler’s favorite cartoon, your favorite thing to do as a family. What do you want to feel when you look at these images? How do you plan to display the images from your session? This is where we get down to the bottom of what you want and helps me customize the session to you. I’m here to listen and I’m here to deliver.

The Session

I want every session to be an exciting and fun experience. My goal is always to make you and your loved ones feel as comfortable as possible, and I take pride in my ability to calm nerves and make people laugh. I know this part can be nervewracking, and it’s totally normal to feel a little anxious about how the session will go. Your session will never be or feel rushed. You are free to relax, let me take the lead and focus on loving your people. I’ve got this!

When should I book my New York newborn photography session?

Most families reserve their newborn session during the second trimester of pregnancy. Because newborn sessions are scheduled around your due date rather than a fixed appointment, booking early ensures availability during my scheduled travel dates to New York City, Manhattan, and Brooklyn.

I accept a limited number of newborn due dates each month to provide flexibility for families if babies arrive earlier or later than expected.

What is the best age for newborn photos?

The ideal window for posed newborn photography is typically 7–21 days after birth. During this time babies are naturally sleepy and curl easily into those classic newborn poses.

However, beautiful newborn portraits can still be created with babies who are a little older, so parents never need to feel pressured if recovery or scheduling requires flexibility.

What happens if my baby arrives early or late?

Babies rarely follow a schedule, which is why newborn sessions are reserved based on your estimated due date rather than a specific day.

Once your baby arrives, we finalize the exact date for your New York newborn photography session. This approach allows flexibility if your baby arrives early, late, or if you need additional time to recover after delivery.

What if my baby doesn’t sleep during the session?

Many parents worry about this, but newborn sessions are designed around your baby’s natural rhythm.

The environment is warm, calm, and soothing to help babies relax. Sessions allow plenty of time for feeding, cuddling, and settling your baby comfortably.

With years of experience photographing newborns, I use gentle techniques that help babies naturally drift into sleep so we can create those peaceful newborn portraits.

Are parents and siblings included in newborn sessions?

Yes. Family images are often the most meaningful photographs from your session.

Newborn sessions include parent portraits and sibling images, capturing the connection between your baby and the people who love them most.

These portraits become cherished keepsakes that families treasure for generations.

What should we have ready for our newborn session?

Parents do not need anything specific as I bring everything unless they have a sentimental item they would like included.

A carefully curated collection of luxury newborn wraps, outfits, and styling pieces is provided for every session. Prior to your session we will discuss colors and styling preferences so everything is beautifully prepared.

How long does a newborn session take?

Newborn sessions are intentionally relaxed and baby-led.

Most sessions last 3 hours, allowing time for feeding, soothing, and gentle posing while ensuring your baby remains comfortable throughout the experience.

Do you have training in newborn safety and posing?

Yes. Newborn safety is the most important part of every session.

I have completed professional newborn posing and safety workshops with respected educators in the industry including Kelly Brown, Julia Kelleher, Amy McDaniel, and Ana Brandt.

Every pose is performed gently and safely with your baby’s comfort and wellbeing as the highest priority.
