Making Siblings Feel Comfortable

One aspect that often gets overlooked in newborn photography is the involvement of siblings. Siblings can be a bit shy around newborns or new environments, and sometimes they feel nervous in front of the camera. I completely understand this! As a photographer, I aim to make them feel as comfortable and at ease as possible.

When siblings are involved in the shoot, I give them plenty of time to warm up to the session. I try to engage with them in a relaxed and fun way, so they feel like they are part of the process rather than feeling like they’re being forced into something. Whether that means bringing out a favorite toy, encouraging them to give their baby brother or sister a gentle kiss, or letting them take breaks in between photos, I always make sure their comfort comes first.
